The Tiger Lily is a common Northwest wild flower. Its scientific name, Lilium columbianum, means "near the Columbia River". Its habitat is open forests in dry places. It blooms in June and July. The Tiger Lily has a tall stem and four to eight loop-like petals. Each plant has orange flowers with purple dots. Many Native American tribes ate their bitter tasting bulbs for food.
