Red-Winged Blackbird

The Red-winged Blackbird is a very common bird. It's other names are: Swamp Blackbird, Red-winged Starling, Red shouldered Starling, Red Shouldered Blackbird, Red-winged Oriole, Redwing, and Marsh Blackbird. It eats corn, grain, fruit, and weed seeds but nestling are fed insects. This bird usually builds its nest in reeds in swampy places 2-3 feet above ground. This bird's male has bright red topped wings. His length (Including tail) is 7 and 1/4 inch. Females look like large sparrows. You are most likely to find this bird in marshes and fields throughout Mexico and the United States. The females song is "kong-ka-ree". The males song is "oak-ae-leo". He may do this from four to nine minutes before moving to another spot.
