The Golden Crowned Sparrow migrates to the Northwest from Canada to Alaska
in September it remains until early May. You're most likely to find this
bird in the winter with white crowned sparrow in high elevations. This bird
builds its nest near timber line and at openings near stunted spruce forests.
Its colors are yellow, orange, black, brown, with a white stripe down its
body. An adult is about 6 1/ 2 inches long. The Golden Crowned Sparrow eats
black berry bushes and other brush. The birds call consists 3-5 clear whistles
with a descending scale. it sounds like "Oh, dear me". Its scientific
name is Zonotrichia Atricapilla.
