How Movies Are Made

by Amanda, grade 4, age 10

An ordinary movie can cost several million dollars just for the making and needs the skills of hundreds of hired workers. Movies have been called the art form of the 20th century because of discoveries made in the late 1880 's. Without cameras, sound recording equipment, projectors, etc. movies couldn't be made. Movies are just an optical illusion. In other words a trick to your eyes. So when you are watching a movie you are really seeing about 30 still frames per second so it looks like it is really moving. You don't have to be in front of something physically to actually see it. If you go to a theatre if you turn around you will probably see a movie projector somewhere up high behind you. A movie projector is a machine that projects movies. A movie projector works like a camera except in reverse. From my point of veiw I think movies are funky!
