Esther Short Park was created in 1868. The park has five acres of land and is the oldest public square in all of Washington. Of course they did not have restrooms, a park, and drinking fountains when Esther Short was alive. The park was placed there in 1957. The statue was placed in the park in 1929. Anybody is allowed in the park at anytime they want. It is a public park. It is fun to have picnics and play at the park.
