The Indian Paintbrush is colorful. It is sometimes a shade of pink, magenta, orange, also greenish white. It grows 8-30 inches tall and is usually scarlet. It grows from the coast to the subalpine meadows. Indians, called the Makahs, used this flower for a hummingbird lure to catch hummingbirds for charms.
