Dr Hoffman was a famous docter. He went to school at Oregon Mectical College University of Oregon.. Doctor Hoffman, responding at the Woodland community picnic punned, "When I came here in 1909, I didn't look forward to any such occasion as this by a dam-site. Those trips by horse and buggy, which have been mentioned here were rugged, but at least one could sit back in the buggy and enjoy the scenery. It has been a pleasure to work here. I've never regretted coming. I tried to dissuade the committee when I first heard of the (picnic) project, but they were three to one. I then thought that since it was to be DH Day I'd get hold of Dan Hogan and let it be for him-; he's the only other DH I know of." -From the Lewis River News; Aug. 28, 1947.
