THE POMEROY HOUSE

by Lauren (age 10) & Erin (age 10)

The Pomeroy house is a historical site. The Pomeroy House is located in Clark County. The Pomeroy House sells teas in their gift shop.

1920, Mr. Pomeroy bought some property. He built a house on that property. Then he sent for his family, to move to the Pomeroy House with him. Before the family had reached the Pomeroy house, it had burnt down in a forest fire. They spent that winter in a tent. That spring, they built another house further back. In 1919 the family caught the chickenpox. So the county nurse came to burn the bedding and clothing. While she was burning the bedding and the clothing, a few sparks flew up and started a fire, which burned down the house for the second time. Then the family rebuilt the house.

She is one of the Pomeroy's relatives. The Pomeroys are experienced pioneers. No one has lived in the house for 15 years.
