Meriwether Lewis was born in Ivy ,Virginia. His family and Meriwether
moved to the country in Georgia way down south . Meriwether attended school
in Oglethorpein Georgia. Meriwether became President Jefferson;s private
secretary . Meriwether and William Clark explored the Northwest. He was
appointed governor of the Territory of Louisiana. He served in the army
before 1801. He died near Honenwald , Tennessee on October 11, 1809.
