Fur Room and Warehouse
By Casey,age 10
The Fort Vancouver warehouse and fur room were used for
storing animal pelts such as beaver and other various animals. After being
cleaned and pressed by a big vice-type contraption they would be shipped
by boat to England. There they would be made into hats and other things
to wear. The fur house was kept away from places in the fort that could
start a fire. The warehouse had big locks on the doors and probably a had
a few guards. The warehouse was owned by the Hudson Bay Company named after
famous explorer Henry Hudson.
