Dr. John McLoughlin is known as the father of Oregon. He was born in
the province of Quebec. His parents where poor, but his grandfather helped
him become a doctor. Thanks to John's hard work, he was able to be a doctor
and enter the fur trade. He was Chief Factor at Fort Vancouver from 1820
to 1848. Dr. McLoughlin soon was know as the white haired eagle because
his hair was pure white, and he wore it long. In Oregon City, you can see
his old home there today.
