The Muscovy Company thought he was a fairly skilled sailer and gave him his own ship and made him a captain. Muscovy Co. wanted Hudson to sail to the other side of the world straight through the North Pole. He started the ship down the Thames River into the Atlanic Ocean. On April 19, 1607 they got on the Hopewell and set off in July. The Hopewell was runing out of food. So Hudson decided to go back England. He'd gone farther then any other explorer. He arirved back in England safe. Now he was planning a trip through the North Pole on Friday April 22, 1608. They went on their journey east. After a long journey the wanted to go home or mutiny so they turned back. Hudson discovered Hudson River in 1609 with his shipe the Halfmoon. He also dicovered Hudson Bay around 1611 in the Hopewell.
