The Bagpiper

by Tim, grade 4, age 9

The Bagpipes were usually played during special celebrations and to welcome the brigades and departures. The brigades were a bunch of trappers that went out in the winter to trap animals because that's when their fur is good. The pipers were not full-time musicians. Many Scottish employees of the Hudson Bay Company could play the bagpipes.
