The Chinook have used the D ADZE for several thousands of years. They
used it to cut down trees and carve canoes and other wooden things. They
would not be able to survive as well without without it. The handle was
carved from cedar or alder. The blade in this picture was made from nephrite.
They tied the blade to the handle with rawhide.
