The Short Eared Owl

You can find the Short Eared Owl in plains, sloughs, and marshes. It is a cavity nester so it builds its nest in logs or trees. The distinctive marking is a black patch near the bend of its underwing. The Owls colors are brown and white. This bird likes to eat rodents and other mammals. It finds its food by flying silently. It is mostly nocturnal. The owls call is a bark during breeding season, otherwise it is silent. Every bird has a scientific name. The Short Eared Ow'ls scientific name is Asio fla' mmeus.
