Scrub Jay

by Laura

The scientific name of this cool bird is Aphelocma coerulescens. You are most likely to find this bird in scrub oaks. This crestless jay is best told by its white throat, out lined in blue. Calls are raspy like zreek, also a rapid shook shook shook. You will mostly see this bird eating acorns, lizards, insects, and mostly anything. They find food on the ground and sometimes steal from other birds. This bird really likes to build its nest in trees, bushes, and small shrubs.
