Mourning Doves live in all areas of the United States. It nests mostly in trees. The Mourning Dove has a slim body, a long tapered tail, a small head, and short legs. The female's plumage is duller than males. It eats grains, small seeds, and acorns. The birds call sounds like this: ooah-ooo-oo-oo. The Mourning Dove will fly long distances to water. The Mourning Dove is named after its call which sounds like it's mourning.
