The Common Nighthawk

You are most likely to find Common Nighthawk in marshes and open areas. This bird makes its nests on gravelly ground. Its markings and colors are brown and black with white wing bar. It eats only insects. It catches its food by flying around with its mouth open. Males make their calls by rushing air through their feathers and it makes a farting noise. Common Nighthawk are only found at night. Common Nighthawks are actually not a hawk at all.

The scientific name is Chordeiles minor.
